It is better than part 3 or 4. It had a definite message about children using too much technology. It was worth seeing and I would watch it again but only if it happens to be on TV. It never got going for me to where it had me. I do not feel that the inside jokes were present like in the other movies.

I love watching movie but have any written reviews before. But I have a feeling today that I must write this review. I walked into theatre today with my wife and saw all the families with their kids. I think to myself, this will be a good kids movie, kids will have a great time. Well, it is definitely not just a kid's movie, in fact the kid sitting next fell asleep midway. For me, it is just genuinely a great movie with simple but elegant storyline. Most importantly, this movie touched a part of my soul. I'm a grownup man now. I can't help but cry a little today during the movie. Looking at the kids around me. I'm around their age when I watched the first Toy Story movie. I can't help but think about the toys and friends I played with at their age. 10/10 great movie, and this review is tribute to childhood, to the toys and friends I parted on the way of life. Thank you all.

I am a 34 year old father to a 5 year old. I mention this as it is important for context.

I grew up with Toy Story, I had the VHS tapes, then DVDs, then a Disney+ subscription. As my daughter came into the world, I naturally introduced her to the world of Disney and of course, Toy Story. Woody and Buzz have been a staple of my life: the connection between 2 characters, facing and fighting evil, together, where friendship always wins.

The first 4 films are still relevant, emotional, and important in modern day society, and the 5th instalment is not a cash grab sequel, it is an extension of the story and aligns with today's challenges. Yes, there is agenda to it and Disney have not hidden that. But the agenda is right in my opinion. Technology has taken over our lives, and whilst it has its benefits, of course it does, but it does limit and take away some of the innocence and magic that can come from traditional and analog play time and story telling.

Toy Story 5 had me crying from the opening credits and I'm not afraid to say. The characters, the music, the editing, the filming, the pace, the story line, the message, and the delivery was just perfect for me.

It delivered exactly the message that I wish to pass on to my children. There is magic out there, don't be afraid to be yourself, and love will always conquer.

It may not mean anything to a casual viewer, but if you are in the age bracket I am in, with children the age that I have, this is a triumph and you will not be disappointed.

I created an IMDB account purely to deliver this review after reading some of the initial reviews which left me rather confused and rather angry.

10/10 for me, and would highly recommend. Just go see it, lose yourself in the magic, forget about life for a couple hours and remember what it is like to be a kid, because you blink and it's over.

As a lifelong Pixar fan-and especially a massive Toy Story fan since I was a kid-Toy Story 5 meant a lot to me. It's been a long time since we've had a new entry in the franchise, and after seeing the trailers, I was really hoping this film would recapture some of the magic of the original trilogy. Toy Story 4 was a disappointment for me, so I went into this one cautiously optimistic.

The first thing that absolutely blew me away was the animation. Pixar is operating on a completely different level now. At times it felt like they were showing off, and honestly, I wasn't complaining. The water animation, the way sunlight interacted with environments, the animals, and the incredible detail in every background were all stunning. Even the materials on the toys looked unbelievably realistic. Every frame felt packed with detail, and visually this may be the best-looking Toy Story film yet.

Story-wise, I thought it was a significant improvement over Toy Story 4. The plot was engaging, and I appreciated the direction they took with it. However, when the credits rolled, I couldn't shake the feeling that I wanted more. The film never quite delivered that emotional punch that Pixar is famous for. Usually, Toy Story movies leave me laughing one moment and tearing up the next, but this time the emotional moments didn't hit as hard as I expected.

I could clearly see what Pixar was trying to do by making Jessie more of a central character. The film leans into themes of female empowerment and gives Jessie a chance to step into a leadership role. I actually enjoyed that aspect and can understand why Pixar would want younger girls to have a character like Jessie at the forefront. That being said, I still missed Woody being the heart of the story. For me, Woody has always been the soul of Toy Story, and his reduced role was noticeable.

Tim Allen's Buzz Lightyear was, as always, a highlight. He brought plenty of laughs, and some of the funniest moments in the movie involved Buzz. In fact, the comedy might have been my favourite part of the entire film. I found myself laughing out loud far more than I expected, and the jokes landed consistently throughout.

One message I absolutely loved was the film's commentary on technology and children's imaginations. The way it explored the impact of iPads and screens on playtime felt incredibly relevant. Without feeling overly preachy, the movie reminded both children and parents of the importance of imagination, creativity, and the connection kids can build with their toys. It's a message that resonated with me, and I genuinely hope it has the same impact on families watching it.

Overall, Toy Story 5 is a good movie. I'm not disappointed, and I certainly enjoyed my time with it. It's visually spectacular, genuinely funny, and tells a stronger story than its predecessor. At the same time, I can't help but feel slightly unsatisfied because it feels like it's missing that special ingredient that made the original trilogy so unforgettable. While it may not reach the emotional heights of the classics, it's still a worthy addition to the franchise and one that longtime fans will likely appreciate.

Toy Story 5 was an absolute disaster! It was so terrible that I only endured it out of respect for Steve Jobs. This disgraceful movie is a literal insult to the memory and legacy of Jobs, who laid the foundations of Pixar. Such a cheap, soulless production completely stains the franchise's legendary history.

When this film got announced, I thought it be a cheap cash grab since i thought they were going to do the evil Buzz thing again but no. Toy Story 5, a film that's actually great and makes up for a miss step that was 4 and I actually enjoyed it the whole way through and i even say it's on par with Toy Story 2.

I wanted to sit back and enjoy a good old fashioned adventure with the gang, but this wasn't it. Instead this newest iteration of the series was more focused on the anxious minds of three little girls. The characters were thin and the story dragged. Lacking the humor and energy Toy Story is known for, number 5 lost the attention of most of the boys in the theater (dads included) less than halfway through. Too bad...

Toy Story 5 is not a bad movie, but definitely not a great one.

Woody has been the heart and the main character if the franchise since 1995. A character we all have been so attached too since we were kids.

Toy story essentially means Woody - and unfortunately this aspect was totally ruined.

Toy story 5 significantly marginalized Woody's role, making him minor, insignificant character, with totally no impact on the story plot.

As i said Toy story 5 , is a mediocre movie, boring at some points and sometimes funny.

But it is definitely the weakest one in the series.

A bunch of Modern Buzz Lightyear toys wash ashore with the capability of connecting to the internet and to fly. They boot up and collectively decide to follow the north star. Meanwhile, a little girl named Bonnie gets a device named the Lillypad, similar to a tablet. Soon, she gets addicted to the screen and stops playing with her physical toys- Jessie and Bullseye. Soon, she seeks the help of Woody to make her play with the toys again. Will she succeed? What happens next? A gentle warning on what tech can do to little kids preventing them from not paying attention to their surroundings and failing to socialise with others, often falling into the wrong companionship.

Animation was sleek and the film handled all emotions well. Recommended for both kids and grown ups! (8.1/10)

I was very audible watching this. It was Jessie's movie for some reason cause there wasn't really more story to tell but I didn't hate it but please for the love of movies no more sequels. Maybe spinoffs? But for crying out loud tell us something we don't know. What about Andy's sister Molly? How was college? Where are Molly's toys? What about Emily and Jessie? You made that inconsequential in universe light year movie. If you have to make another one give a different character a movie. It'll add backstory and create lore. Ignore me. I'm just ranting.

It happened again: Pixar went and made another Toy Story movie after already "ending" the franchise, causing severe backlash, only for people to realize that the movie is pretty good. A very familiar cycle that happened first with Toy Story 4, and now with Toy Story 5, and we'll probably see it again when they do Toy Story 6. Once everyone got their eyes on this movie, the talk around it was VERY positive, I've seen a few claim that this is potentially the best Toy Story movie which is obviously a very bold statement.

I'm a huge fan of this franchise, I grew up on the first three. My first ever Halloween costume when I was like 2 years old was Buzz Lightyear and Toy Story 3 is one of my favorite animated movies, I unironically think it's a cinematic masterpiece. But I wasn't very fond of 4, so like everyone else, I was skeptical for this. But I'm happy to say that it is pretty dang good, although a tad overrated.

First and foremost I think this beats Toy Story 4 quite easily, and that's all I could've asked for tbh. It's a really good film but I had more issues with it than I thought I would, the biggest being the pacing. The pacing is prettyyy awful ngl. The entire first half of this movie is genuinely confusing because it is so chaotic and so fast-paced. The second half's pacing was much better but still wonky. This movie just feels overstimulating sometimes; the soundtrack never lets up, everyone is always talking over each other, and the dialogue is loud. Thankfully this issue is almost entirely resolved by the halfway point, but it's still a big issue nonetheless. I think the narrative shouldn't have been as hard to follow as it was, the pacing really killed the setup.

Luckily, my complaints end there. The pacing was bad enough for me to take several points off, but I liked basically everything else about Toy Story 5. Having this installment revolve around technology and the decreasing time kids spend with their toys just makes sense, there really wasn't any other direction this movie should've gone. Even better, it's not a cliché "kids and those darn phones" movie, it's way more nuanced than that. It's more of a criticism of how tech has made kids grow up too fast rather than kids using tech itself, which is a GREAT theme imo. This is something I found 11 year old me thinking when I was getting bullied online by kids from my school. It's so so much better than simply making Facebook boomer jokes about kids trying to swipe books and using internet slang irl. Kudos to Pixar for the theme.

The plot is great too, I didn't mind Jessie being the lead in the slightest. Woody stole the show in Toy Story 4, and Buzz's main story has technically been over for quite some time. Jessie learning to resolve her trauma and anxious attachment was really touching. This movie also places a bigger emphasis on their kid. I will always prefer Andy over Bonnie, but this movie makes you care about her in many ways that the original trilogy didn't do for Andy. Lastly, I LOVED seeing Woody and Buzz goof off again, I was smiling like an idiot every time they were on screen.

Overall this was an excellent and worthy addition to one of the best franchises of all time. If it had better pacing, I would consider this on the same level as Toy Story 2 and 3. It's that good. Strongly recommend! 8/10.

The biggest challenge facing Toy Story 5 is justifying its existence after the seemingly definitive endings of earlier films. While it doesn't completely overcome that hurdle, it offers enough heart, humor, and adventure to make the journey worthwhile.

Ultimately, Toy Story 5 is a charming return to one of animation's most beloved worlds. It may not be the franchise's best chapter, but it reminds audiences why these characters have remained so enduring for nearly three decades.

I was really thinking that Tim Allen and Tom Hanks, we're getting old. I mean, really too old to do kids animated movies. Buzz Lightyear is 73 and Woody is only 69. Jessie is only 63 and maybe it's appropriate for a septugenarian and 2 sexagenaians, to be voicing characters who have been the toys of three generations of kids. The story of kids maturing past playing with toys is great for kids and their parents. The theme of screen time and its effects on younger kids is a great talking point for most kids and their parents. Discussing how tech can be detrimental, but valuable if used correctly, it can be very helpful to development. I liked the new characters I only wished they introduced someone other than Lilypad to be a possible heir. Very good, not great. Looks like a final curtain call to me.

Toy Story 5

Some stories never grow old, and Toy Story is one of them.

Cons: 5 was halfway a high budget PSA that seemed overly judgmental towards modern parents. It has a strong one-sided view against screen time that made it feel like the script was written by boomers who needed to feel vindicated for their hatred of advancing technology (it was written and directed by the same guy, who is 1 year shy of being a boomer). And the other half was just a redundant rehash of themes that were already covered in the previous Toy Story movies.

Pros: The humor was good. The rehashed themes are good themes, so I never felt like leaving the theater even though that half of the movie never brought anything new.

Yesterday, I finally got the shot to check out Toy Story 5, the official 5th installment of the Toy Story franchise. It was absolutely a solid Toy Story flick, and gotta be honest, pretty much better than Toy Story 4, in my opinion.

Don't get me wrong, I did enjoyed Toy Story 4, it's still good, because every Toy Story films needs incredible stories about Toys who gets made, who thinks their trash, lol and also toys who were meant to be with their kids who was never alone or left behind, but always find a friend, and always keep their kids happy.

I still think Disney could've ended with Toy Story 3. That was a very good ending to the franchise. The very best ending of Toy Story legacy. But it is what it is.

Jessie's story was beautiful and emotional, and heartbreaking, and Toy vs Tech story was very solid and also funny to experience for the first time to understand what Toys are meant to be played with, and Tech is just attractive to kids or adults with many different devices.

This Toy Story flick is absolutely a Must See family movie of 2026, and Toy Story is always a love letter to the fans and to the world, especially the kids who loves playing with Toys or stick to devices. If you love the Toy Story franchise, this is the movie to watch for the whole family.

Just Got Out Of a Dolby Cinema Screening of Toy Story 5.

• Of the Mainline Films, There's Never Been a Bad Toy Story Film imo.

👑 - Toy Story 1, Toy Story 2, & Toy Story 3 are it's own thing. That Set-Up, Development, Further Build and Conclusion within that Trilogy Was Executed So Well.

• Toy Story 4 - If You watch it without thinking about The Trilogy, it's actually a Really Good Film.

And Now Toy Story 5. I think it's time to Stop Making These.

Positives -

💭 - The Imagination Sequences were Really Good to Watch. Especially the Spy/Bomb Sequence.

• The Lighting, Shadows, Colour Grading and Overall Visuals were Top Notch.

📲 - The Theme is really good. About Screens Bringing Kids Together, but rather doing the opposite, through artificial interaction instead of in person interaction, With on top of that, easily malicious comments, causing people distress, dividing friendships etc.

• The Multiple Lightyears Flying Set piece was good to watch.

Negatives -

📲 The Premise of Tech Vs Toys Idea had so Much Potential. But they Squandered it imo, it never lived up to the Concept.

📃 - Instead we get a Story about, Buzz, Woody and Jessie trying to make Bonnie a Friend, and Eliminating an iPad. This thing could of been so much bigger.

• The Promising Premise and the Complete Under delivery of that Premise is what Brings this film Down For me.

So overall, it's not a Bad Film, it's a Good Watch.

But it's very Clear That They Need to Stop Making These.

They Should Stop Whilst they are Still Ahead.

It's always fun to get back to the characters and world of Toy Story so I was happy to see another instalment on the way, and although it probably is the worst of the five Toy Story films it's still a fun time.

The story is a bit of a mixed bag. I thought overall it lacked a bit of focus, with multiple story threads that took a bit too long to all converge and come together. That being said, I thought the overall themes of technology and its impact on children, their friendships, and imaginations were well done and highly relevant. It carried emotional heft when it needed too, and provided light relief as well. I don't think it hit the emotional of comedy highs of any of the previous Toy Story films, but it was all well done nonetheless.

If i'm being nitpicky, I would have liked to have seen more from some of the original characters. The likes of Rex, Slinky, Ham etc were all relegated to walk on parts, and even Woody felt somewhat sidelined. This was very much a Jessie and Buzz movie, not that that's a bad thing necessarily, but I like the other characters so much it's a shame not to see more of them.

What can't be faulted with a Pixar movie is the design, sound, music and just the overall production quality. The whole thing feels and looks clean and imaginative and engaging.

Overall this is another fun and entertaining Toy Story movie. It doesn't quite hit the highs of any of its predecessors, and the story maybe feels a bit muddled at times, but the overall themes are fitting for these times and it has its emotional and funny moments.

The people that put negative reviews wanted to hate it from the beginning, just because they don't feel it should exist. Can you honestly say every movie you like is 100% necessary? The logic doesn't make sense. It's a good fun movie. Has fun comedy and an emotional story, and brings some closure to storylines we didn't have before.
