The best movie for those who love psychological horror.

I loved the fact that the film delved into loneliness, obsession, and emotional dependence, as opposed to pure jump scares. Some things were foreseeable, but the acting and the suspense were great, keeping my eyeballs in the right places all the way through. I felt the pacing was a little slow in the middle, but it picked up in the end and made up for it.

Peak Horror, one for the ages

Terrifying, horrifying, unnerving, haunting, thought provoking.

By the end of the movie, I was 51% curious about how it would end and 49% ready to run out of the theater. It pushed me right up to my limit. I was shaken for at least 20 minutes after the movie ended. The movie has occupied a considerable portion of my thoughts for days.

I don't know if I could or if I would want to ever see the movie again, but I will probably remember it to the end of my days. Can you ask for anything more from a movie?

The acting and directing really sell this movie. I think everyone leaves the movie with thoughts and questions swirling in their heads. Horror? Yes. Typical? No.

Obsession review

8/10 - Creepy, uncomfortable, and surprisingly emotional

I went into Obsession without knowing much about it, and honestly, it ended up being one of the most memorable horror movies I've seen this year. The story starts off pretty simple, with Bear wishing for the girl he likes to love him back, but things quickly become disturbing when that wish goes completely wrong. The concept is really interesting and makes you think about how dangerous it can be to try and force love instead of letting it happen naturally. (Wikipedia)

The acting was great, especially from Michael Johnston and Inde Navarrette. As the movie goes on, the situation becomes more uncomfortable and intense, and both actors do a really good job of making it feel believable. There were a lot of scenes that genuinely made me feel uneasy, which is exactly what I want from a horror movie.

The movie isn't full of constant jump scares, but it creates tension really well. Some moments were hard to watch because of how awkward and disturbing they were. Overall, Obsession is a unique horror film with a strong message, great performances, and a story that sticks with you after it ends. Definitely worth watching.

What a movie.

Walking into this movie, I was really looking forward to the idea of a mentally messed up version of Romeo and Juliet walking out of the film. I can say it met expectations and blew them away. This movie hypes up the scary moments and does not fail to scare you these types of movies often don't scare me or don't entertain me, but this movie has been in my opinion the number one horror movie I've ever seen all of the jump scares unexpected kills all tie perfectly to this movie 10 out of 10. Keep making films like this!

Could win film of the year

9.5/10 Okay i know i might be over exaggerating for some people but damn have they done this movie good. Its insanely well written and directed the scenes were really creepy its real horror not like some horror movies that only count on gore and jump scares this is actually creepy. The sound effects are insanely good and the acting is phenomenal. I got to say this is the type of movie that i enjoyed from start to finish. This isn't always the case. I thought project Hail Mary should get movie of the year but damn after watching this, i take it all back. Its soo good. And i think one wish willow deserves a cinematic universe. I cant wait to see the next movie of curry barker cause this was amazing. 9.5/10.

Beyond sad, disturbing and incredibly engaging

This movie is well executed in a way that few movies have ever accomplished. It pulls you in, slowly and steadily. Not since Old Boy has a movie managed to elicit such an emotion. Watching this movie in a theater where a lot of younger people were laughing and being immature to being quiet...dead silent. Audience clapped afterwards. I can't say I recommend this movie. It's disturbing to the point where if you're not sure if you can handle it maybe stay away. I don't regret watching it but I'd question your sanity if you openly recommend this movie to someone.

goated

A really good movie as it makes you paranoid of whatever Nicky is about to do, and the ambience just makes you even more anxious of what comes next, the way the movie just keeps on your seat and absolutely focused on the relationship of him and Nicky is just disgusting as well as the gore its just ugh, the greatest movie of 2026.

Victim of a Curry Baker skit

Obsession plays out as a trip inside the world of a Curry Baker skit if it's left to run untethered.

A fresh watch for any horror fan and a great flick to enjoy the laughs with friends. The film spends no time waiting to entertain then leaves you wanting more once credits roll.

An excellent display of film resource use and delivering on what horror viewers want.

Oh my god.

Genuinely the best movie I've seen in a minute! Loved it. "No no no, no no no, no no no, I thought we were having a good time", such a good quote from here and out. Also, there were parts where I thought there'd be a jump scare, but it came when i didn't expect it as much in a more abstract way. Absolute cinema.

Take notes Hollywood -

A "simple" premise with breathtaking execution. This movie had me on the edge of my seat since minute 20. It's so eery, and in ways that other modern day horror movies just cannot get right. This movie does it right - from the choreography to the simple scenes that turned uniquely dark & the way it played out beginning middle and end. Took about 20 minutes for my heart to calm down. Huge respect for everyone that took part in this movie. I do not go lightly on my 10s either. I hope the movie industry takes notes on this so we can have more like it in the future. Brilliant.

The best horror I've ever seen

I watch a lot of horror movies and have seen most of the classics, but Obsession is probably the best horror I've ever seen. The music is fantastic, the lighting is wonderful, and the intimate setting increases the sense of anxiety. On top of that, the cast is excellent, led by Inde Navarrette, who, in my opinion, easily deserves an Oscar nomination for her performance. I highly recommend it to everyone.

Loved it

Bear is an evil twerp.

Nikki is literally imprisoned in her own body, and nothing she projects to bear after the wish is made is truly her. This movie was a work of art and I will continue to watch it when it comes out on streaming platforms. I hope to see more work like this in the future from Curry, and I lowkey also hope to see Inde in his future works too.. kinda like how A24 does that sometimes.

Made an account just for this 10/10

This was genuinely the best horror thriller I've ever seen in my life. No words. The Oscar worthy performance mixed with the too close for comfort realness makes this the best movie in a DECADE. Or more. Hits at such a simple concept so deeply it leaves you feeling slightly in awe at every moment that passes.

Horror at it's finest!

Obsession is brilliant. A near masterpiece. Horror films can be hit or miss but the right horror film abducts your senses, pushes the limits of your imagination, absolutely terrified you from start to end. Obsession is a cautionary tale captured beautifully by CRry Baker wielding meticulous results. The premise is very simple but there's ample subtext, twists, surprises that kept me utterly engrossed.

The two main leads (Inde & Michael) deliver career best performances playing the twisted duo known as Bear & Nikki. The character development is remarkable, the complexities of both characters make the experience all the more enticing. Obsession is this generation's Blair Witch Project. You have a low budget independent film that will have a lasting impact on the culture for years to come.

Deeper than Expected

This film is far more sophisticated than it initially appears. Beneath its surface lies a remarkable depth of allegorical symbolism and thematic complexity-so much so that fully unpacking its meaning could take days. Viewers who are attuned to subtext and nuanced storytelling will likely find themselves reflecting on it long after the credits roll, discovering new layers and interpretations with each passing thought. Few horror films manage to balance atmosphere, symbolism, and emotional resonance so effectively. In my view, this is as close to a perfect horror film as the genre has to offer.

A new kind of scary

Scary in a way you won't expect. The lead actresses performance is reason to watch alone! The build up was slow then all the sudden in the most perfect way. The whole watch I couldn't tell if the main character was someone I was rooting for or if he himself was the villain! Very interesting concept and a movie I will be thinking about for days to come.

Holly molly what I just watched

"Obsession" is the kind of movie that plays with your mind and emotions from start to finish. It constantly keeps you question. Even after the credits roll, it leaves a lingering feeling that stays with you for days.

The acting is absolutely insane. Every performance feels genuine, and you can truly feel the emotions, tension, and dedication that went into bringing these characters to life. The cast doesn't just actthey make you experience every fear, doubt, and heartbreak alongside them.

What impressed me the most is how the film manages to get under your skin. It isn't just a movie you watch; it's a movie you feel. The atmosphere, the performances, and the emotional weight all come together to create something memorable.

This is one of those rare films that leaves a lasting taste in your mouth long after you've finished watching it. Whether you love psychological stories or emotionally intense dramas, Obsession is a film that DESERVES your attention.
