I paid money to see this movie because of the hype. I left thinking that movies must be so bad these days if this movie is considered good. Sure, the main lead is cute and she has some whacky faces but believe it or not, that's all the movie is, over and over and over!!! The plot is ludicrous, the male characters acting is so grating and over the top, it's very repetitive with tons of loud jump scares, and when you boil it all down, what you are left with is water with a teaspoon of soup in it.

This movie has been all over my social media feeds since its release. I try my best to see new horror movies even though, in recent years, most have been horrible. For some reason, when people absolutely love a movie, I fall for it every time and go to the theater to find out that it's just a horrible movie. Obsession is no exception.

I went in with as much of an open mind as possible and didn't even see the trailer nor read the synopsis.

It's very rare that whenever I see a movie I feel I don't like, that I want to get up and walk out of the theater. In recent years this has only happened with Obsession and The Monkey.

The idea for the movie is an interesting one, but the execution of it was quite disappointing. The main female character gave one of the most annoying performances. I get that was the point, but she was on par with the kid from The Babadook... and I actually liked that movie.

The main guy was such an annoying character that I didn't even feel bad for him. He just kept digging his grave further with each scene.

The movie was also predictable. All the shock the movie was supposed to give off just didn't work because I knew exactly what was going to happen.

I hate to use the word "dumb" when talking about a movie because I feel like there should be more to it than just that, but the movie was just that, "Dumb".

This probably was my toughest lesson. Never trust anymore imdb or rotten tomatoes. Everything is jacked. Such a pathetic movie. I would be ashamed to even volunteer to be a part of such a flick. Terrible.

Can't even see this one in a primary school's atttempt to do theater, so bad. It is not that I cannot write in-depth cinema vocab rich review but I don't want to even waste my words.

Don't fall for the hype. This movie is not worth the 8.2 rating. I just watched this movie, it was pretty boring. I laughed more than being scared. I watched it in a fully packed movie theatre, and the audience sat in silence and sighing with boredom, and I don't think all the people in the room were as much jused to the horror genre as me. The only horror aspect of this movie was 2 or 3 jump scares, and also those were cheap ones. And there were a few uncanny walley moments, but that's it for a 2 hour movie. If you are really into horror movies,it doesn't worth your time. I reacently watched Hokum, and the new Mummy movie, and those were way better, not perfect but not even the same league. If I can recommend you horror movies that are worth your time, you should watch The wailing or When evil lurks.

This movie was literally laughable. Myself along with multiple other random movie goers were cackling at how bad the plot was written. The entire movie is so predictable that you are never wondering what's going to happen next.

And can't lie the only good acting in the movie was the actress who played "Nikki". She did great with what her character goes through in the movie.

The beginning took an insane amount of time to lore dump and show us the most boring intro in the world to our main protagonist who then basically does a major plot point from the movie "Weapons" that a specific character with very interesting makeup does from that movie (if you know, you know). There is only one redeemable factor from this movie, and that would be the performance again that the main actress who played "Nikki" debuted. Every single plot point was the most predictable thing in the world and the fact that people are finding this movie to be the next "psychological horror of the year"...

Let's just say... I have worries for the future of cinema if THIS is what people would pull inspirations from. I literally wiped away tears from laughing during halfway through the movie.

But Bear, the male character, made me wanna leave the theatres.

I absolutely hate it when movies rely on stupid characters to make it happen, it's like they call you dumb to your face.

The have a badly written character make the worst stupid choices so you have a basic storyline to follow.

Fell really flat for me, dragged, slow, some gory scenes that only last 5 seconds and fail to impress. But the ending was good, made me uncomfortable for a minute but I left the theatres wanting my money back.

Noone acts like Bear. Come on. What's going on with movies and intelligent choices? Are they no longer made?

Despite the impressive ratings, I found the film underwhelming. The central premise feels heavily inspired by earlier supernatural wish-fulfilment stories, particularly those in the vein of The Monkey's Paw. While the production quality is decent, the script lacks originality, the characters are forgettable, and the horror elements fail to create lasting tension. For me, the rating feels significantly higher than what the film actually delivers.

I don't understand the high reviews for the film, but the movie's story is pretty much in the trailer. There is not much more to it and it is stretched into a 100 minutes filled with cringe. There isn't much character development or world building that gives depth to the film and the acting was mediocre at best. A 2/10 might be harsh but with such high expectations after seeing the high scores I was very disappointed.

I'm always curious how certain movies suddenly take off and become massive hits. A lot of times, I realize it has less to do with the movie itself and more to do with the marketing, the target audience, or a built-in fanbase.

For me, this movie felt slow and heavily dialogue-driven. It was marketed as horror, but in my theater, the audience laughed far more than they jumped or screamed. Walking out, I overheard several people saying they liked it because it felt similar to the creator's YouTube content. That's when it clicked for me, this film already had an established audience coming in knowing exactly what they wanted.

So, if you're already a fan of the creator and their style, you'll probably enjoy it. But if you're going in expecting a strong horror film based on the hype alone, like I was, I'd probably pass.

Weirdly overrated! It's more like a psychological comedy rather than a horror movie. Not even close to 5. The movie lack the element of surprise. In addition, all horror scenes are very surfacial and extremely brief. It's a total waste of time. I am starting to think twice about trusting the imdb scores anymore.
